Aim of the Syllabus:

Examination Scheme:

The WAEC Mathematics exam consists of two papers, Papers 1 and 2, both of which are mandatory.

Paper 1:

  • Comprises fifty multiple-choice objective questions drawn from common areas of the syllabus.
  • Candidates have 1½ hours to complete the paper, worth 50 marks.

Paper 2:

  • Contains thirteen essay questions divided into Sections A and B.
  • Candidates must answer ten questions in total.

  • Section B includes eight questions of greater length and difficulty, with candidates expected to answer five questions for 60 marks.
